Faculty Mentorship:

A faculty member is assigned to every student as a Mentor. The Mentor acts as de-facto guardian for the student providing guidance and mentorship in both academic as well as individual-based needs of the student. The Mentor/Class Teacher will also stay in correspondence with parents and guardians of the respective student.

Anti – Ragging Policy:

Ragging means ‘Any disorderly conduct whether by words spoken or written or by an act which has the effect of teasing, treating or handling with rudeness any other student, indulging in rowdy or undisciplined activities which causes or likely to cause annoyance, hardship or psychological harm or to raise fear or apprehension thereof in a fresher or a junior student or asking the students to do any act or perform something which such student will not in the ordinary course and which has the effect of causing or generating a sense of shame or embarrassment so as to adversely affect the physique or psyche of a fresher or a junior student’.

“Ragging in all its forms is totally banned in this Institution including in its departments, constituent units, in all its premises (Academic, Residential, Sports, Cafeteria and the like) whether located within the campus or outside and in all means of transportation of students. The Institution shall take strict action including but not limited to criminal proceeding and/or cancellation of admission against those found guilty of ragging and/or of abetting ragging and the burden of proof shall be on the perpetrator of alleged ragging and not on the victim. An offence of Ragging may be charged either through a written complaint by the affected or on the independent finding of the Anti Ragging Squad. The Institution is bound by the UGC Regulations on Curbing the Menace of Ragging in Higher Educational Institutions 2009.”

Punishment for Ragging:

Depending on the nature and severity of the offence, as established by the Anti Ragging Committee of the College, those found guilty of ragging shall be liable for any one or more of the following punishment. The decision of the Anti Ragging Committee shall be final and binding.

  • Suspension from attending classes
  • Cancellation of admission
  • Withholding/withdrawing scholarship/fee concession and other benefits
  • Debarring from appearing in any test/examination or other evaluation processes
  • Debarring from representing the College/Institution in any Fest/Event/Sports activities etc.
  • Suspension/expulsion from the hostel.
  • Rustication from the Institution
  • Expulsion from the College/Institution & consequent debarring from admission to any other Indian Academy Institution.
  • Fine of Rs.25000/-
  • In the case of offences of very serious/grievous nature, the case will be referred to the Police, in addition to any other punishment.
  • Collective punishment where the offence is committed collectively by a group or by a class making it difficult or not possible to identify specific persons.

Compulsory Attendance:

  • Attendance in classes as per university norms is strictly enforced and is a prerequisite for appearing for Final/University exams. Students are expected to adhere to the prescribed rules strictly.
  • Leaves are granted for valid reasons only.
  • Students are not expected to go out of campus during their class hours
  • Students are allowed out at lunch time only.
  • Students must have a cumulative attendance percentage of 75 & above in order to be eligible to collect Hall Tickets for Bengaluru North University Semester Examinations.
  • Submission of medical certificates will not entitle a student, who has shortage in attendance (lesser than 75%), to appear for Bengaluru North University Semester examinations.

Campus Norms:

  • Students are expected to conduct themselves in a worthy manner in their dressing, demeanour and sense of discipline. Students are expected to be seated in their respective classrooms during class hours, loitering in the campus, corridors will not be appreciated.
  • Dress Code: Boys are expected to be in full pants and clean shirts. Low-waist trousers/pants are not allowed. Girls are expected to dress in formal & decent attire and avoid wearing tight, transparent, sleeveless, or revealing outfits. Uniforms & dress codes are prescribed by the respective authorities for different academic streams in order to promote unique identity with discipline; students are expected to strictly adhere to such guidelines.
  • Students must always carry and wear their College Identity Cards; the ID cards must be displayed at the College gates & whenever asked for.
  • Code of conduct on the campus includes safeguarding the Institutional property, keeping the campus clean & tidy and dressing civilly.
  • Smoking is strictly prohibited.
  • Defacing any part of the campus is treated as an offence.
  • Use of mobile/cell phones along the corridors or inside the classrooms is strictly forbidden and will lead to confiscation & strict action against the student.
  • Students are expected to make use of the library services during free hours. Every student must have two library cards.
  • Limited parking space is provided for students and staff and the same can be utilized on ‘first come first’ basis. The College management is not responsible for the safety (including damage and/or theft /loss of vehicles) of vehicles in the premises. Students and staff may utilize the limited parking space at their own risk. Students must ride/drive their vehicles into & at the campus at a moderate speed only; speeding will be looked upon as an act of indiscipline and can attract adverse consequences.
  • Important Notices/Notifications/Circulars etc are displayed at separately allocated Notice Boards & Information corners on the campus, students are expected to make it a practice to regularly read such displayed information.
  • For any certificate that is to be collected from the Principal’s Office(s), request letter(s) must be submitted two days in advance,
  • All visitors are expected to establish their identity & purpose of visit upon entry to the campus premises.
  • Parents/guardians may visit the campus upon prior intimation/request and are expected to kindly adhere to the security requirements if & as prescribed by respective authorities. Parents or Guardians who wish to meet the respective Principals must have filled in an application Form and can meet the Principal only with a prior appointment after 3 p.m.

Academic Assignments, Tests and Term Examinations:

University academic sessions start as per schedule, exams are conducted as per timetable and results are announced in time. In addition, monthly internal exams are also conducted as per the schedule drawn at the beginning of the session.

Assignments should be submitted in all subjects as per the instructions given by the respective departments. Examinations conducted by the College are compulsory for all students. A minimum of 40% marks should be scored in Mid – Semester & End –Term Examinations.

Discipline at IA Hostels:

The hostels are managed directly by the Trust. We understand that the student who is away from home is in our total care. Separate hostels for boys and girls exist in safe neighborhood within walking distance of campus(es). Experienced wardens look after the wards. In and out timings and visitors’ logs are maintained. The wards are encouraged to utilize their stay in the hostel and Bangalore in general in useful and productive ways and in good company all the time.

The schedule of classes for each student is given to the parents of day scholars so that the parents can ensure a healthy daily routine for their children.
