Workshop on Intellectual Property Rights

IASMS conducted a workshop on “Intellectual Property Rights” on 23rd January 2021 from 11.00 am to 12:30 pm in Seminar Hall 2. Students of both 1st and 3rd semester MBA were present for the workshop. The main aim of workshop was to impart detailed knowledge about the IPR among students.
This session enabled students to search the IPR related information and familiarize students with the procedures involved in application for IPR at National and International Level.
The resource person spoke about the various categories of IPR like Copyright, Patents, Trademarks, and Geographical Indications etc. Intellectual property Rights allows the creator of the intellectual property to exclude others from exploiting his invention/creation for a particular period of time. He quoted the example of Covid 19 vaccines to explain the concept of patents. The next category of IPR was copyrights and he demonstrated it by taking the case of three idiots movie and Chetan Bhagat’s copyright issue by taking similar other examples he explained about trademarks, geographical indications etc.
The next topic discussed and hands-on experience was provided that how a person can apply for patents and what are the various procedures involved in getting a patent. He explained about the various patent organizations which issue patents. He spoke about trademark registration and various companies’ logos and industrial designs.
The session was fruitful in educating the students on the practical aspects of IPR.
