MA in English
M.A. in English is a two-year postgraduate programme spread over a four semester period, designed to orient students in accordance to demands of the market. With the course covering aspects of Medieval Age all the way to Modern Age of British literature, the students become conversant with literary traditions and their development, through the different periods of English literature. The paper on literary criticism and critical reading familiarizes students with the various theories and canons of criticism-beginning with Aristotle’s Poetics to the twentieth century Critical Traditions.
The objective of this course is to enlighten students on the diversified literatures of the world – European, American, African-American, Indian, Commonwealth, etc., and expose them to inter-disciplinary frames of gender and its influence on society, through gender studies.
