Certificate Course in Systems Biology

Systems Biology has become a fundamental field in molecular biology. It is the study of a biological system as a whole and how parts of a system interact with each other to give rise to an emergent behavior.Systems Biology is an interdisciplinary area and has scope in any field of biology; medicine, microbiology, biochemistry, biotechnology, drug discovery and genetics.

The high-throughput “omics” technologies such as genomics, microarray, metagenomics, proteomics, interactomics and metabolomics have generated enormous amounts of data for many bacteria, organisms and diseases. Systems Biology studies the mechanisms underlying complex biological processes as integrated systems of many interacting components using data generated from ‘omics’ studies.

The objective of the course is designed to make the students aware of the emerging field of Systems Biology. This course is a blend of theory and the practical training in computational systems biology.
